My felt piece was inspired from “The Body Redefined” project I had in my Textile Investigations Class.

Through shape, texture, and colour we had to apply 3D felting techniques to trace, change, and exaggerate sculptural form on the body.

My main goal was to create a piece that distorts, transforms and covers the body. My work represents our connection to the natural world and what we cover ourselves with everyday. Felt is the earliest fiber humans have worn to protect themselves from the elements in their environment. Our surroundings highly affect the way we live our lives day to day. Covering ourselves from the elements is what humans have always had to do, we cover up to live a more comfortable lifestyle. I am interested in exploring what we can cover ourselves with.

My piece can be categorized as wearable art.
